Prayer Room Open E-mail
Friday, 06 March 2009

Did you know there’s a prayer room in the Parish Center tower? Climb the south stairs from the lobby and you’ll find it. This comfortable space is open to you any time the building is open. It’s a quiet place for you to meet with God. To pray alone or with a friend. To rest. To worship. To enjoy his presence. . . As often as possible Jesus withdrew to out-of-the-way places for prayer.—Luke 5:16 (MSG)

"For the generations to come this burnt offering is to be made regularly at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting before the LORD. There I will meet you and speak to you; there also I will meet with the Israelites, and the place will be consecrated by my glory.  "So I will consecrate the Tent of Meeting and the altar and will consecrate Aaron and his sons to serve me as priests. Then I will dwell among the Israelites and be their God. They will know that I am the LORD their God, who brought them out of Egypt so that I might dwell among them. I am the LORD their God.
Exodus 29:42-46 (NIV)

God made a provision, a place in the desert for Moses and the Israelites to encounter his presence. In the Tent of Meeting, God met with Moses and spoke to him. This place of meeting reflected God’s desire to dwell with his people. And, today, this God who does not change, desires to an encounter with you.

God invites you to step out of your ordinary experience and meet with him wherever you are. God no longer dwells in places. He dwells by his Spirit in his people. And He tabernacles with you at home, at work, at play.

The prayer room in the Parish Center clock tower, one floor up from the children’s classrooms, was refurbished in 2007. A modern-day tent of meeting, this room is consecrated as a special place to meet with God. It is a place for you to wait before the Lord, to pray, to listen, to rest, to cry, to be alone, or to pray with others. It is set apart as a place of encounter and a place of healing.

The prayer room is open to you when the building is open. Please just stop in the office when you visit to let Lois know you’re there. Please note that maximum capacity for the room is four.

Please stop by during the week, or before or after a service, to see the room. Better yet, take some time to meet with the Lord in our tent of meeting. You will be blessed.
